Put it this way Uniden 2830/President Lincolns never won any prizes for been pretty, but they do the job and do it well.much the same with the Ranger 2950DX3. Yes the Ranger is an aquired taste in looks, but the new version looks far better than the old display. Pick up your CRE/Anytone microphone and then pick up the supplied one with the Ranger. I much prefer the Ranger mainly as it is in a different league for build quality. I agree with the above, I have never had a CRE 8900 to try, but have an Anytone 5555 modded by HM Funk (that I paid t be modded) Slamjam wrote:I got mine from Nevada - £199 brand new including P&P Feels better than the Anytone series and I think it looks nicer too. What more can I say - Fun ber buck you can't go wrong. I very much like the green lettering with the black background. In light of the alignment issue it is a good radio and I guess what can you expect for £200 nowerdays? I did check with Nevada about the alignment and installing the e-chip as I didn't want to mess up my warranty etc and they gave me the green light (I was surprised at that!) Overall looking at the board it is very well put together and the display is easy to read in the dark. With the slightest adjustment it's now at 25w pep - It will do more as I think from memory the finals are rated at 24w each but i wouldnt fancy running it at 48w!! The signal meter was not at all cablibrated - Someone in a vehicle in the same car park couldnt light all the bars! Again a slight adjustment and now all ok. The power on SSB was very low - Had to tweak the VR as it was only doing around 7w. Although I feel some of the alignment wasn't paid enough attention to at factory. I've had mine for around four months and am very happy with it. Make sure it comes with the e-chip as you will need that to expand the radio.
